However, it is important to take time for yourself when preparing for these important exams. Here are five effective self-care tips for students who are studying for healthcare exams should follow:

Tip #1: Find a Productive Space

When you study in a place that you feel comfortable in, you can find yourself concentrating and understanding the material more. Search for a study space where a minimal number of distractions can occur, so a coffee shop might not be the best area. Some suggestions for productive spaces include a quiet spot in your home or the local library.

Tip #2: Schedule Time for Breaks

It is unhealthy to spend the entirety of your day completely engrossed in your studying. That is why it is recommended to plan specific breaks throughout your study schedule. It is recommended that these breaks do not last any more than thirty minutes, but make sure to use this time for rest and relaxation. Studying methods such as the Pomodoro Technique can be effective if you struggle with keeping time.

Tip #3: Take Care of Your Body

A healthy body is just as important as a healthy mind. Make sure to find time to exercise, as something as simple as a brisk walk can help clear your mind. Eating clean and healthy is also crucial during your study period because junk or other unhealthy foods can contribute to sluggish behavior and an unconcentrated mind. This also includes alcohol consumption; if necessary, completely cut out alcoholic beverages during your testing preparation schedule.

It might be tempting to pull all-nighters in order to make sure you understand the material, but this is more detrimental than helpful. It is important to make sure you go to bed early and get enough sleep both before and after your testing preparation. When you get between seven to nine hours of sleep consistently, you will find yourself more motivated and comfortable while studying.

It is crucial to try and stay off social media as much as possible when studying for your exams. This is because time can fly by on these apps; a thirty-minute break on Instagram can easily turn into two hours. It is recommended that you turn off notifications for your social media apps when you are about to start studying and turn to other activities during your break instead of browsing your phone.
