The HESI A2 Math test is written to reflect the ever-evolving needs of the nursing field. This exam is taken on the computer, you will only be permitted to use the computer’s simple 4-function calculator for this portion of the exam. You will be primarily required in this portion of the test to answer questions regarding arithmetic, fractions/decimals, measurements, order of operation, and math facts.
Expect these questions to come in a variety of different formats such as equations, word problems, Roman numeral, and statements that you will have to first decode, devise a plan of action, and then answer. Often times, determining what is being asked of you is the most difficult part of the question. The Adkins Academy is here to help. Beyond the material, you will learn strategies on how to unpack these difficult and often deliberately confusing questions, to avoid being misled. As a nursing school student and in your professional career, you will be faced with many difficult challenges and decisions that will require you to be able to think critically. Your nursing school wants to make sure you can “think on your feet quickly and accurately.” This is to ensure that all potential nurses are able to apply these concepts effectively as they relate to the nursing field in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment.
